The scope of LifeStyleInterventionSolutions

The scope of LifeStyleInterventionSolutions©

The scope of LifeStyleInterventionSolution© spans the following bounds.
1.Ergonomics
2.Psychodynamics and Stress managemen
3.Time management
4.Mental Health literacy
5.Spiritual Lifestyle Coaching
The above listed lifeskills go along with SelfHelp© as the basic intervention model; so, each would be discussed in relation to the SelfHelp© model.

A few words about SelfHelp©…

SelfHelp© refers to a self applied quasi-psychotherapeutic method employed by the individual to solve his own problems and surmount his own challenges through self analysis; by examining his habits, disposition or attitudes, desires and constraints; in the light of his own perception of reality. I call it “the-man-in-the-mirror” approach to resolving life’s challenges.
Casting a look at your-self in the mirror reveals- “you’re standing face to face with 100% of your life’s problem” – this- subject to the right kind of analysis gives a clue to how it can be resolved. Nature use challenges to make us discern how well equipped we are to enter into the next phase of our existence.
Your challenges needs be resolved by you – in other words you are the best equipped to resolve your challenges – failure of which you may end up in an over-dependency rut; when others help you find solutions to your own challenges. SelfHelp© skillsets© can also be referred to as training for life adjustment; and can be acquired from a skilled LifeCoach© who serves as a crutch till the storm rolls over.
Also SelfHelp© can be a better option when professional help is elusive and as a first aid measure.

Back to the skillsets of LifeStyleInterventionSolutions©…
·        Ergonomics
This is the scientific study of man at work in relation to his machines and his work environment. Ergonomics, studies functions on the platform of the interplay of reciprocal actions between man, his machines and the environment or workplace. These aims to help create a more productive work schedule achieved with less executive stress per man hour per day. It involves a study of operations research.

·        Psychodynamics and Stress management
This forms the pivot on which LifeStyleInterventions© skillsets© acquisition rests. It can also be referred to as life adjustment training. The following lines capture the idea of psychodynamics and stress management in the light of LifeStyleInterventionSolutions©.
It is known throughout the ages that human circumstances do not remain the same perpetually. They change for better or for worse; and such changes affect personality, lifestyle and reaction with both the physical and social environment”.
-culled from, Book of readings in educational theory and practice. Vol. 1. University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
The “personality”-“lifestyle”-“reaction” dynamics with relevance to the above quoted text within the context of both the physical and social environment is what I call “PSYCHODYNAMICS”.

·        Time Management
Time is the most limited of man’s limitless resources. Man has throughout all epochs of human evolution tried to harness time one way or the other (Joshua needed more time at the battle front at Gibeon! - Bible story); It doesn’t matter who you are; you’ve got just 24hours in a day; no more, no less! How creative you are with these 24-golden boxes spells out your success or failure- determines your level of productivity and it’s in turn what you have at your disposal to turn into personal wealth.

·        Mental Health Literacy
Mental health literacy refers to the individual’s level of awareness about mental health issues. Symptomatic and asymptomatic mental health disorders are so ubiquitous you may not notice you are manifesting one. The probability ratio of any person developing a mental health symptom is 50% in a lifetime! Meaning you or someone close to you might need some form of assistance or the other to get out of a mental rut before or during old age. Mental health literacy is a little bit on the low side in most major countries of the world, mostly because of cultural beliefs and the fear of stigmatization. In our time and age, the importance of mental health literacy cannot be over-emphasized; it should form issues of discussion at adolescent health fora; all that’s needed are texts on psychology and psychiatry and or tutelage by Mental Health professionals. This portends a healthier future for our generation in terms of mental health, where adolescent health would be better safeguarded in these days of adolescent drug abuse, depression, delusions, illicit sex, maladaptive behaviors and other mean vices.

·        Spiritual LifeStyle Coaching
“WHO defines health as “a state of complete, physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” In most recent times, the definition of health has even been expanded to include spiritual well-being”.
-Culled from M.O OLATAWURA, Psychology and Psychiatry (Lecture series from Ibadan). Spectrum Books Limited. Ibadan.

The underlined text is the emphasis here; there is a yearning for higher knowledge in every man – the desire to be at tune with the forces of nature and at peace with the Supreme Being. Man has invented many religions but has come to know so little of God – the Supreme Being. This has resulted in pronounced mental and emotional upheavals in man’s volatile psyche. Supervised self-study by a skilled LifeCoach© can be a good source of relief.
